To be stress-free is why I ride.
I'm 45 now so the 230 is pretty much the same technology as bikes when I was a kid.

A little heavy for sure and the suspension needs to be better. Not a costly fix at the factory.

But if that was done it would be in competition with the 250X at several thousands less cost.

    We've got the following:
    KX100
    CRF150
    CRF150 ('06 electric start)
    CRF230
    KDX220
    KTM200 EXC

I prefer a two stroke, so I usually ride the KTM, or KDX. Currently having a BBR big bore kit installed on the 230, hopefully that will liven it up a touch. All CRF-F's need to be rejetted. If you haven't done so, do it now.

Oh yeah; I'm 49, wife is 47 and rides the 2006 150. Been riding a long time, basically since I was about 11.

I am 41 years old, bought an 06 230 last year, and really enjoy riding it. I have done a few light mods, jetting and airbox, new bars, Battery Tender, graphics, etc. I looked at the 250X and the 230F and for my first foray into the dirt bike scene (two wheels, we owned 3 wheelers for years) I chose the 230 for a couple of reasons. The X was more expensive (but you get what you pay for, aluminum frame, higher performance engine and suspension)and I truly felt that, as others have posted here, that this bikes manners suited my skills much better.

The 230 is a fun bike to ride, and has provided me with alot of "smileage" since I bought it. :D

I'm 46 and just got my 230 yesterday to ride with my son. (I rode street bikes in my late teens - early 20s.) I bought my 12 year old son a TTR 125L a few weeks ago and it looks like he is enjoying the bike. So I started looking for a trail bike to ride with him. The 230 was the right choice for me:
    Electric start
    Bullet proof engine
    Low maintenance
Well mannered (after I locate a exhaust baffle)
    Did I mention electric start?

    JP

BTW The previous owner removed and lost the exhaust baffle / tip assembly so if anyone has one to sell please let me know.

I am 62 years old. Bought the 230 one year ago. I have been riding different bikes for many years. The 230 is the best bike for me now a days. Its perfect on single tracks in the woods.

I'm 36 years old. Just wanted something quiet and reliable to run around with friends on ATV's. I prefer 2 wheels. Also consider myself somewhat a survivalist and see benefit in a simple machine that would allow fair range if scavenging for gas, should a disaster(etc) occur. I installed the Baja Designs headlight/taillight kit that's came in handy many times.

Mine's an '06 model. Top speed, bone stock, is 68.7mph on my Garmin navigation system. Flat stretch of asphalt.

I also own a Yamaha YZ250 that's mostly used for summer training towards the winter snowmobile racing season. Even while being lighter, the YZ can feel very clumsy in tight terrain when compared to the little 230F.

Being an off-road registered vehicle, none of the insurance, licensing, transfer taxes, etc is required in my state. Here in MN a $12 trail sticker allows use of a vast network of trails/ditches. I've also never been harassed by law enforcement when entering small area towns for groceries and so on. It really is an overall inexpensive means of transport.

Glad to find you all! I'm already learning a lot around here.

BTW.... Hi again everyone!! i had a puter crash and lost all my book marks!!
    How is everyone??

P.S. now that i am on the honda instead of the yami can i hang here???? [-o<

No probs Hockeymom63, we might not like the blue devils here but we tolerate them. Now you a Honda rider you can keep your head high.

54yo male, first bike I've owned since 1979(Honda CBX).

We have an 11yo, we bought him an CRF80 for xmass and let him loose at Prairie City. Once we started to make friends in the dirt bike community I bought the 230 at Easter so we could join a group going to Stonyford. Boy was that a wakeup for someone who never rode a dirt bike before. :D

Three weeks ago we got his mother a TTR125, she's an experienced Mtn Biker so within a few times all three of us were navigating the blue trails of Sugarpine and Georgetown, great sport!

We're headed to Sierra City for July 4th, anyone have any recommendations?

    Cheers

The 230's are fun low maintenance bikes, but leave me wanting more at times. I just found a great deal on a 250x so I got it.
