We did a CR85 conversion on our CRF230 and they were awesome. Plenty heavy duty enough. You'll need to change springs to .44kg/mm to account for the difference in weight of the bike.

They are 37mm inverted Showas and they made a world of difference.

how hard is it to change the springs out and all? i need to do this.

Just changing the springs out of the factory fork tubes is very easy, just get the front wheel off the ground, remove the hex caps on top of the forks and then remove the springs.

Is there anyway I could buy the already modified triple clamp from you for the conversion to the cr125 forks for the crf230f?

what mods were required for the XR250 forks?

I just bent my front forks so now i'm in the market for either new 230 forks or i'm going the USD mod route. I can't decide. It doesn't seem to be any cheaper to buy used 230 forks than it does to upgrade to a USD mod.

I'm getting ready to do this same mod and I'm curious what the rider's weight is for your bike. The main rider of this bike will be about 145lbs, but I'm around 195 and will also ride it from time to time. Are the CR85 forks with .44kg/mm springs for a lighter rider, or will I be ok if I don't hammer it too hard?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I weight about the same amount too I was told by honda that they can get .46 springs but thats as heavy as they would recomend going too although they did mention no one in New Zealand has done this conversion yet that they are aware of.

I am super amped to give it a go

    As per below link:

    http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/archiv ... 93081.html

it indicates that I need to have the left bottom fork send off to be modified?

Do I need to do this? what is this needed for?

The Reger brake adapter moves your brake caliper out - the 230 wheel and brake rotor are larger diameter than the CR80/85 parts - the caliper mount holes on the CR fork leg need different size threads. If you send your fork to Reger they will drill the caliper mount holes and tap new threads. I had a tap so I did it myself in my garage.

When the brake caliper is relocated, your 230 brake line will be a little too short. I got a CR125 brake line off ebay for a few $$.

Here's a few pics of my wife's bike with the Reger/CR85 parts:

We ride in the woods so I put a headlight on for her. After she scratches up the front fender some more, I'll replace it with a 150R fender.

I went to my local auto parts store and purchased the proper Heli-coil, drilled out the hole and installed it myself. Cost was about $16.00.

    Wow nice Job :D

I really want to do this too

can you please advise what you had to buy from reger?

did you use one of there lower tripple clamps?
where did you get your top tripple clamp?
did you order your springs from them?
did you keep you key switch or remount it?
did you buy the 85/80 axle and use there adapter?
are the forks length the same? or does the bikes front pitch change because the forks are shorter?

Whats the best way to get hold of reger as I have just tried to call them and didnt get through I dont think leaving a voice message from NZ I will get a call back.

    I really appreciate your time.
