Got
Air?
 Looking
for an alternative to the restrictive combination
of the Honda air filter and multi-layer wire-screen
backfire element? Want something lighter and maybe
a bit easier to install? Well look no more, helmet
hair, Twin-Air has just what you need. Their dual-stage
filter allows better breathing but equal filtering
by using a free-breathing coarse outer layer of foam
to trap large particles of debris, and a finer inner
layer to trap smaller particles. The end result is
equal filtering but with less restriction to air flow,
allowing the engine to breathe better. CRF250 owners
can take further comfort in knowing that the filter
was designed for unrestrictive flow to a 450cc engine,
so it should flow even easier to the smaller engine.

The
Powerflow System includes a trick and lightweight
aluminum support cage with a Backfire Filter that
uses an inner layer of backfire resistant foam. This
new support cage weighs nearly 1/4 pound less than
the stock support cage, while offering less resistance
to air flow. It also installs a bit easier, and locks
firmly in place inside the air box for positive positioning.
As an added bonus, you can even use the stock air
filter on the Powerflow support cage.

and Twin Air Powerflow System Comparisons |
I've
been using Twin Air filters for my KTM's since 2000
(three per bike), and they have endured many cycles
of cleaning and re-oiling without a single failure.
This time I ordered the Twin Air Powerflow kit, consisting
of the trick new support cage and two Backfire filters,
giving me a total of three filter elements. Cleaning
and re- oiling air filters is a messy job, but doing
several at the same time is no messier than doing
just one. I keep the plastic bags in which the filters
come, and use them to store my clean and ready filters
in a drawer right alongside the old dirty filters.
Whenever I install a fresh, clean filter, I stick
the old dirty one in the plastic bag from which I
took the clean one. Then when all three filters are
dirty, I clean and re-oil them all at once, storing
the clean ones back in its plastic bag until they're
needed. When traveling some distance to a race or
fun ride, I usually carry one extra filter along,
just in case. There's no telling when a ride may include
a deep water crossing that might foul even a fresh,
clean filter.
Twin
Air also offers a fine little oil filter for the CRF450/250,
for $8.95, and a full line of filter cleaning
products and oils.
There
are numerous different brands of aftermarket air and
oil filters available, and most of them are good,
but I
doubt you'll find any better than those from Twin
Air.
