So currently I have Factory connection springs in the forks (.52 kg) and fc spring in the rear (6.3 kg). Still have stock valving and stock shim stack in the forks. I'm around 300lbs. I currently ride a lot of trails and tend to ride the track couple times a month. I've ridden my buddies 450r on the track and the suspension seems to handle it so much better. Was wondering if anyone has used race tech gold valves and shims? Or if someone has some ideas or other solutions.

Two different styles of styles of suspension designs as far as Spring seats and range of motion for types of terrain, where as the X wants to use a lot of travel over moderate terrain with small jumps here and there, and the R is capable of jumping Huge ramps and use its full travel when launching and landing with huge G loads each time, so the Spring seats are designed to meter flow along with valving to maintain a mid level fork and shock float, where as the X will use much more travel over very small hits and the R will not move, and rides faster and more controllable over bumps, yet lighter and slower riders feel the R suspension as being harsh, and the X as more plush over bumps comparatively. The science to suspension is wide and the Guys at many shops have really got the suspension dialed if you truly want to figure out a setup you like, your R can be made to feel like that R if that's what you want, It takes you knowing what you desire in ride feel and knowing what a factory R rides like can be put into your X and produce nearly that same feel, myself I went full factory connection and couldn't be happier, yet and many have said that about many others too, it's all about what you want and how much your willing to spend.
Have you ever changed seals and fluid on your forks?

There are ways to make your bike do what you want..

You need to re-shim.
You need stiffer springs too.
.52/6.3 is about right for 265 naked.
If you are 300 before riding gear, you should be looking at .56/6.5.

When you and stiffer springs, you effectively remove the rebound damping, because it now is working against a much stiffer load.

Re-valving the shim stack will alow you to run stiffer settings without adding harshness.
