two strokes

I just read an article in dirt rider that stated the AMA had a petition to increase the displacement of two strokes in AMA racing to allow them to be competitive.With Honda discontinuing the CRs, is too little too late.Just wondering what everyone thought.

well the fact is that 250 smokers are faster that 450 but all the factory riders are riding 4 strokes because they are easyier to master and the factorys want people to sell more so thier solution was make thumpers i am not sure about the 125's i think they are the same as the 250f's just not many people perfect there skills with they so say good buy to cheap motocross because i dont thing honda is bringing back the two-stroke

i got it from dirtrider after they were acused for selling out to the factorys and from my friend who owns a shop in wasington

and when minirider first tested the crf150r they said they could feel the motor start to get tired after 7 hours when i owned a cr85 i never noticed the motor starting to lose power unless there was a bigger problem(maby lack of care )... the four strokes corner better but the two strokes are faster in the straits. in my opinion the 85 is faster than the 150r but then again i know for a fact that my motor was not broken in properly by the previous owner so i will be able to give a more exact opinion in about a month when i rebuild the motor for more power

well 125's and 250f are about the same speed/power (from what I saw and did)

If the 250 2 strokes were so much faster than 450 4 strokes you'd see everybody racing them at the pro level. Only the few Factory guys would have to run 4 strokes.

The fact is, 450 4 strokes are faster because the horsepower is more useable to the rider. The rider can turn faster lap times and that is the name of the game.

Ultimate peak horsepower has nothing to do with MX racing.
There are many races where the 250 lites riders are just as fast as the 450's, in some cases faster.

yes and because it is more usable they ride it but in the straits the 250 will out beat the 450 but tracks never get all the power out of each bike that is why in espn moto-x world the 250f's were able to have a fair race with the 450's because the track was soo tight but over all the 250 is faster in a strait than the 450's

let me say this again they are faster in the straights
and my guess is that they dont use them in cross country probably because you are eather on the gas or off the gas and they run them for long hours and the smoker motor dosnt last very long i never said that they are faster in corners or faster on the race track i mean they are just faster corners are 99.9% rider and.1% bike but with the tracks that they run them on you never get all the power out of them

Not in a million years is any stock 250 two stroke faster in any speed contest than an equivalent 450 thumper.
Even in modified versions. When a few two strokes were still going up against 450 Thumpers in supercrosses and Nationals the hole shots and straights belonged to the thumpers.
It's nothing that can be argued, it's just a fact. Doug

i know that i am one of the most stuborn kids out there and if i dont want to hear somthing i dont and i dont want to hear the thumpers are faster but deap down i really belive that if carmicle were to com back on a rm that he would do a little better
