2014 CRF125F - Welcome to the CRF Family!

Honda introduces a new CRF to the CRF family, the new 2014 CRF125F.

The CRF125F replaces the CRF80F and the CRF100F as it will be available in both mini and big wheel versions. The air cooled motor boast plenty of novice-friendly low-end torque and an electric start. Everyone loves the magic button especially parents with young riders. Wisely, Honda also includes a kickstart.

The small wheel version has a seat height of 28.9 inches, same as the CRF80F it replaces. The CRF125F Big Wheel has a seat height of 30.9 inches, same as the CRF100F it replaces. This is a brilliant move on Honda's part allowing riders to select the CRF125F that fits them best.

The front forks have 31mm legs, with a new hydraulic front disc brake with a 220mm rotor.

The rear wheel delivers braking power via a 95mm drum brake.

The CRF125F features an all-new, electric-start, 125cc, single-cylinder, OHC four-stroke engine tuned for low-end grunt plus plenty of pull throughout the powerband, the CRF125Fs also feature a four-speed gearbox. Add a new rolling chassis with upgraded suspension components front and rear plus styling just like Honda's CRF motocross bikes, and you have a great addition to Honda's off-road line of family machines with a bike for all riders—young to old, beginner to expert. Suggested retail pricing is $2799 (CRF125F) and $3199 (CRF125F Big Wheel). They will be in the dealerships in September.

It is about time they rationalised that part of the range.
Parents can't keep replacing bikes forever.

If Honda are smart they will have made it wheel only upgradeable small to large. That would appeal to a lot of parents.

honda's microfiche does not list the part number for the swingarms for either version. not sure why that is the case. i'll be contacting honda to determine if the swingarm is different or not. i agree, it would be great to be able to swap the rims and tires and have a big wheel version.

So, how does the 125F perform?

I have a CRF100F that runs great and a CRF150F that I hate (awful front suspension and brakes) and I'm thinking that the new 125F is the perfect size for the kids.

Overall, how does it compare against the 100F and 150F with regards to: power, suspension, brakes, refinement, etc.?

I wish it had rear disc, but at least they put disc on the front. My youngest daughter is ready to move up to a bike larger than her KLX110 and I would probably get one of these if it had rear disc. I'm sick of adjusting front and rear brakes on 3 different bikes for every ride. I'd rather have a Honda, but might have to go over to the dark side and get a KLX140. Not much selection for intermediate bikes with discs on both ends. :?

What's up with the 4 speed? I hate it when I only have 5, but 4 would drive me crazy.
