| Alright thanks! It was just rebuilt a yr ago, but it seems to be overheating more and more frequently. Mostly on rides where we're doing slow climbing stuff with rhinos |

| I just let it run til it overheat... Nothing came out of the weep hole. So the seals are good right? What does this mean? |

If you are not getting wetness out of the weep hole the ceramic disc / seal is good. If your radiator fluid is not going down and trans fluid going up the inner oil seal is good.
It sounds like you are not getting enough air flow to keep cool due to the slower speeds.
My riding Buddy talks highly of the water wetter type products. Don't remember which one he uses ?
He swears it's the real-deal - Might give that a try. |

Alright thanks I'll give it a try. Its definitely fine when I'm riding at high speeds, but I've got a race coming up and don't want to chance it |

Engine Ice works for my 05 450X, since changing it, has never overheated.
Hope this helps.... |

| Ya used to use engine ice, but when I had my water pump rebuilt the guy put maxima coolanol in it. I just talked to my buddies mechanic and he suggested ziptie because thats what they use in their race bikes. As well as switching to a 1.88 rad cap. |

| After removing the seal on the impeller side, I can see that the bore between the two seals is not concentric. There is a longer radius near the weep hole giving the bore a shape like a cam lobe on a cam shaft. Is this machined OEM or wear and tear?[/img] |

If I understand you correctly - you are describing the hole in the case remaining after the seals & pump shaft have been removed from the side case. That is just the OEM hole for the shaft to go through. The seals take care of centering the shaft and the hole in the case is a backing / shelf for the inner seal surface to seat on.
It is a cast aluminum part, the hole is not required to be perfect. the shaft does not touch any of the surface of hte hole. I would not think it would be grossly out of round ? The inner seats where the seal rides should apear to be milled nice and flat.
Hope that helps ? |
