CRF 100 Mods? Anyone install the BBR 120 kit?

Read the review on the site. Sounds good. Thinking about doing this project on my own and hoping to have a sounding board to throw questions at as I go should any arise. Anyone do this mod?
How easy is it to remove a motor and then re-install?

you already read about my experience with the 120cc big bore kit for the honda crf100f. it's very easy to install if you have the manual and follow carefully the instructions. the only gotcha for me was the cam chain spring and i've been told this is not the case for all model years.

motor removal and install was pretty simple.

I just installed one 2 weeks ago. I didn't have any issue with the cam chain guide spring. All went smooth.

Only thing that stuttered me up a bit, was I had to get a vavle spring compressor. I couldn't make the automotive type work. Tusk makes an inexpensive one that works well.

Did you notice a big improvement to the performance?

Did you install a larger carb as well?
I'm trying to decide between throwing a little $$ into this bike (its the wifes) or just keeping it stock and putting the $$ into a larger bike in the future. I could play around on it on the mini track with my son who rides an 80 and/or he can move up to the 100 as soon as he grows a bit. I would obviously have to upgrade the suspension too....

i didn't install the carb and it worked well. likely the carb would improve the performance. but you can do them separately.

here's a link to a valve compressor that will work:

I've got a Keihin PE24 carb and FMF exhaust on mine. I've also got a front end swap and 17" rims running Dunlop GP 125 slicks.

I've put an obscene amount of money into mine, but it's built to run a specific race class in mini-road racing. If i were just playing in the dirt with it I'd save my pennies to upgrade to a 150f or 230f.

The 100 is a great bike, but it has significant limitations for dirt/trail riding. The power isn't the worst of the limitations. If you haven't spent any time on larger, better suspended bikes it's hard to fathom, but really the motor is the least of the 100's problems.

Now if you just want to play with the 100, a BBR kit, exhaust and carb can be had for less than $500. That's a relatively cheap upgrade to add 70% more power. Not many bikes you can get that kind of improvement for that little money.

That's the one I ended up with. Worked out just fine.
