| So I have seen a few riders using the new neck braces and have seen a few pros using them aswell. Should I get one? How important are they? I know theyre new so most people dont know about thier benefits but are they the new must have thing? |

| My dad and I both picked up Leatt braces a couple months ago and we love them. Do we absolutely need them? I dont know, but it makes us feel safer out there knowing that we are taking measures to prevent injury. If anything I think its worth it to feel more secure. Besides, I figure if I wear one atlease I look like I know what I am doing...lol! |

| I had a bad crash a couple months ago where I went head first into the face of a jump and almost broke my neck, after that I bought the Leatt Brace and wear it every time I ride no matter what. I havent had to actually use it yet luckily but I feel safer wearing it. And after you wear it for about 2 minutes you don't even realize its there. Definietly worth the hefty $400 price tag. |

Leatt is coming out with a brace for $189 to compete with the EVS which looks like a decent brace. On the other end of the price spectrum is Alpinestars that has one that sells for just under $700. Not sure who makes the best one but they all sound cheap compared to suffering a neck injury. |

i know some of the older one's were causing people to break collar bones due to the pressure of the helmet pressing on the brace which put pressure on the collar bones...snap!!!. they have since redesigned. even if they hadn't better to have broken collar bones then a busted neck. better safe then sorry! worth the money seeing as how a trip to the emergency room for a "quick fix" is going to cost a whole lot more then 500 bucks... don't be cheap when it comes to protection |

| I just picked up the EVS neck brace at local dealer. Equipment guy there assured me that this one is as good as the more expensive models (didn't try to upsell me one bit and he works on commission). I paid $170. I had it on, then popped chest protector over it plus helmet. I couldn't even tell it was on! Very light weight and comfortable. |

So I have a little story that relates to the Leatt neck brace I'm strictly an MX racer and don't really ever head out to the dunes or knolls, but when you get 8-10 MX racers that are board with the tracks we all headed out for some knolls action. This past saturday to be more specific, great day for riding all around. After watching derik nelson jump a 100 foot sand double we decided to head west, hitting the trails wide open we were having a blast, well long story short I was about 10 foot behind derik skimming the whoops when I started to swap back and fourth, It was all down hill from there, I imagine I was going around 35mph when I decided to eject from the bike. With this awesome momentum scooting me along and the 450 slowing down I first caught that wicked little handlebar in the chest, sending me cartwheeling over top the bike, next thing was a sweet lip on an upcomign hill that must have caught my head (thats what I think becuse I don't remember after this point) when I came to my hand seemed to be telling me "what the F*** was that trick"? aftering doing teh truffle shuffle on the ground for 10 minutes I made it to my feet and was checking out my once new CRF450, only a bashed silencer so I was stoked. After the boyz picked most the sage brush out of my helmet and leatt neck brace I manned up and said go on without me I'm going to get a beer. with a fellow rider escorting me to the truck I made it back just fine. As a reminder this is the first year I've worn the Leatt neck brace! I took off my helmet and inspected the carnage to this fine thor carbonfiber hair protector. It is now retired But then I tryed to take off my Leatt, No deal, I had smashed my head to hard into the back portion of the brace it completing jammed into position and not moving at all, it took two riders when they returned from there loop both pulling to get this puppy off, It was not broken, alot dirty but not broken and probably saved me from an air evac out of there that day! So if your thinking you don't need one because you don't race think again! I raced all year and ended up wrecking during a saturday joy ride! One broken hand and chest contusions later I just missed out on rounds 1 & 2 WINTERCROSS!
Please note, although no boardcode and smiley buttons are shown, they are still useable |

Damn, Brawp! Thanks for sharing the story. I heard someone say when it comes to riding, "There are two kinds of riders...ones that just went down and ones waiting to go down." Point being, I completely understand your story and feel the same way that no matter what kind of riding I'm doing, I'm totally geared up including neck brace.
Hope you're feeling better and the beer you had was cold! |

Got a question for everyone. My son is just getting comfortable on his CM50, for neck protection he wears a neck roll. I don't want be reactionary, because of the Lutz targegy but am looking at a $400 brace. What do your kids wear?

My son is 12 weighs 110# and I just dumped 395. on the LeattGPX, sucked to spend the money but would suck even more wiping his butt for the rest of his life with 395. in my bank account. There are to many things that you can't control so why not control the things you can.
