    Bike has no power

    by Meatballz » Sun Apr 26, 2015 1:20 am

Recently stripped a few bits off the bike to check valve clearances, before I done this everything worked fine.

However, I went to start it for the first time, and the starter was struggling and the starter relay was making a really loud buzzing sound.

At this point the starter wouldn't turn and I would just get the really loud buzzing sound, the kind of buzzing you would hear on a game show, really loud! The instrument panel was struggling too with lack of power.

I took the battery off and charged it overnight on the trickle charger and put it back on, when I pressed the start button the starter motor turned for a split second and then everything went dead as a dodo.

I disconnected the battery and re connected it and the power was back. I then tried to start again and I heard a little pop, as if there was an electrical arc somewhere.

Now no matter what I do there is no power.

I've checked all the fuses in the fusebox and they are all ok.

Could it be the starter relay? The fuse in the relay is ok too.

Are there any other fuses other than the fuse box?

    Thanks,

Fixed! - took the battery off and cleaned the terminals and connections and it started first time!
