air box with cut for more air

    by luisonair » Sun Sep 15, 2019 9:53 am

hi, my bike has an big hole made on top of air box (looks like previous owner cut the box with a hot knife), I'm going to ride in an area that is really wet and rainy, do you think this is gonna be a problem? so is gonna be sucking water into the carb?
I wonder if there is a way to prevent water reaching air filter without blocking air.
    any idea is welcome

    thanks

It should not be a issue unless you actually submerse the bike and then it would not matter if its open or just has the snorkel ...... my 450X is cut the same way , and ALL 250/450R's have the entire top area open ...... So it should not be a issue .... ;)

Check if it has vents cut in the side of the air box as that would be more of an issue. As Jim said the top out is pretty much the standard.

It does happen sometimes that you have to kill a bike mid stream if you are going to submarine.
