    How Much is Too Much???

    by Fic230M » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:25 am

How much can the CRF 230 motor take? I have the CRF 230M and I ride it almost everyday to work and back. Its a 22 mile ride each way, 10 or so of which is highway riding. For those 20-25 minutes each day (there and back) I am holding the bike wide open to keep up with traffic at 65-70mph. Is this engine designed to do this, or should I be anticipating the day I blow it up on the way home?

I wouldn't have thought this was what it was designed for.
    Probably 40-50 MPH on average.

If you are going to use it like that it maybe worth a sprocket change so it is not revving itself to death.

But at 65-70 MPH it is doing pretty good.

It starts,it runs,it gets to where all CRFs can get to without the valve or valve plate dramas
