Yep, approx. 3,000. I know someone who called the rangers there, they said the new trails will open up around Spring Or summer of this year! This will basically double the size of Hollister Hills!!! :D

I went to Hollister last weekend and it was awesome. One comment. We need to slow people down in the camping areas. I watched theses ding dongs flying through the camps. Almost ran me over twice and there are kids playing. Slow down.

Dont get too excited boys. I've been riding Hollister for a long time and Ive heard these empty promises before. From what I was told, they are now going to be opening the land across the road, which they have owned for nearly 20 years and never opened, but it will be used for 4 wheel drive recreation only. I did also hear they are opening some land in the back of the lower ranch for bike use, but I dont know how much. The whole situation is BS considering it was our green sticker registration money that bought that land across the street in the first place. Now, they want to give that to the 4 wheelers?!?! WTF?!?! I am just praying that if they do open more trails for us that they bless us with some singletrack. I get so tired of riding those whooped out roads. We need some more Troll!!!!

I too have been riding Hollister in excess of 20 years and have been hearing about the property accross the road as well nothing has every come of it about 3 years ago (I think) they supposably started cutting trails. Don't think that ever happened. The addition of the property would be over due. I hardly go out to Hollister any more too many people in too small a place. It is also quite a drive for me now. I agree that more single track would be great I would love to see 4X4 go accross the road and open the upper ranch to bikes there are some great trails up there plus the GP track more technical trails would increas safety I think by giving the advanced riders some where too put their skills to the test intsead of blasting through fire road sized trails as fast as you can. I think any one who regularly visits Hollister contact your congressman and the AMA if you are not a member join and try to get them to address the green sticker funds not being appropriately.

I'll believe it when I see it. Carnegie also acquired 3,000 additional acres about 10 years ago and they sill haven't opened it.

About a month ago I was asked by a ranger if I wanted to "preview" these trails in a small group. They wanted feedback about the new trails that they had made up there. They are all singletrack and very fun. I don't know when they will be open, but all I can say is that they did an excellent job on the new area. The entrance is just past the ATV Track near the Lodge Track. It is a locked gate..... Now all they need is some more parking..... :D

Cross the fingers, would be awsome to have 3,000 more acres to ride. Do agree that parking is gonna be a issue, heck it's already an issue.
