No, and I'd say most Rangers don't care, as long as your sticker/reg is current, and you have a good spark arrestor in your can.

Ocotillo in the summer? Isn't it toooo hot?

I only ask about the Red Sticker because both my kids have green sticker bikes, and I want to ride with them during the summer. Not trying to be a jerk and break the law, but don't want my riding season to be over either.

Probably will depend on where you plan to ride. Out in the desert you will probably be ok. If you try going up to Arrowhead or Big Bear, they do patrol and right tickets if you are on a red sticker bike out of season. They tend to be a little strict up there. Can't comment on most other places as I don't frequent too many like I do Arrowhead.

It's just a CA state land (OHV area) issue. BLM & NF do not follow the CA red/green sticker restrictions, other than your bike must have current registration.

With that said, most MX tracks are found either on private or state land (OHV areas). 2 years ago, I bought both my nephews green stickered smokers, just for this reason. Cheap and they can ride track & trail anywhere, anytime.

Got to love those green stickered smokers!

as far as they gotta catch ya first...well one of the sheriff dirt bike patrol guys here in the high desert took the #1 plate in the national police and fire mx series, and at least 2 others are experts in d 37 so while it may be fun to try theyd probably catch most of us..lol still be fun though :D

The red/green sticker registration is for bikes registered in CA. The "seasons or restrictions" do not apply to out of state bikes. They just have to have current 'out of state' registration. Oh, and a spark arrester of course.

The last time I saw someone get a ticket it was about $120. Was about 4 years ago.

I don't know what the fine is for riding out of season with a red sticker, but as far as "gotta catch me first," I heard rumor that a few months ago someone tried running from a closed area near Bean Canyon in Mojave and got caught. Here is the insult to injury part: Don't worry about the ticket, they arrested him for felony evading and impounded his bike. I haven't confirmed it, but if it is true, that person has a lot more to worry about than a ticket. Everyone I ride with knows to take their lumps if they get caught out of season or out of bounds. On the other side of the coin, you might get to share a jail cell with J-Law. You can catch up on how he is doing and what AM/PM mini marts are serving these days. It's only a matter of time before he goes back in.
