So I just started this procedure and find the nut on the bottom of the leg to only turn 2 1/2 turns and Im laying on it to turn it that far. Im a pretty big guy, I can see twisting this thing off. The air bleed screw is out, no fluid, and all clicks counter-clockwise out. I dont want 1 to have one become 2.

dont hold me to this but it may just be because of the damper rod being attached to it i found pushing down on the fork leg lightly helped it to un screw

    hope this helps

Thanks for the post. Rebuilt the forks yesterday leg one took 3 hours and leg two took 30 minutes, not including oil drain time. Have you ever changed the damper oil. and if so do you have pictures like this one. Thanks again

Forks are 47mm. Some guys have improvised the fork seal driver by making their own using PVC or ABS pipe and nylon cable ties or steel hose clamps.

So the size we need is 47mm? For the fork seal driver.. The honda parts department told me 48mm, he looked it up

    problem inner rod

    by johnnycrf » Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:33 am

to start sorry for my bad english, i will try my best.
i did open my fork following your manual, with the first fork it went as discribed, no problem at all.
but with the second, the inner rod didn't come out when i pushed the fork in.
i did manage to get the fork apart, but with this fork the inner rod is going in by itself.
the first fork the inner rod is coming out by itself.

anyone know what could be the problem with the second fork???

    Thanks in advance!
