Sure you are meticulous about your maintenance. The only problem is knowing when it's time for that maintenance. Dubach Racing Development (DRD or Dr. D) had the answer with their Hour Meter. When installed it will help you tracking your maintenance intervals. No more guessing how long you road the last few times! Read this review before you ride again!
I love having it to keep track of what's due when.
It is made by someone not at all related to Dr.D ,though.
Parts Unlimited has them,it's a totally identical clone except for no Dr.D printed on it, about 9.00 cheaper.Nicely made,A real snap to install, too. Doug
since they are more or less all the same
I do not care what label they wear
but it is nice, sometimes surprising, to know how long your engine was running
the last 3 I got are the 'hourmeter plus tacho' from PUL

Mounted mine under the seat on the aluminum cross member. Doesn't conflict with the seat, is protected and the seat always comes off anyway to do my air filter after every ride, so it is really no inconvenience.
It is a good day to ride

have you checked the wire wrap to make sure it's still in place and tightly bound?
Yea did all that - even hooked up an ducati ignition pickup unit on a lathe as part of testing etc - Just got a dud unit (happens sometimes - no worries) - It went in the bin a few weeks back.
