    several reasons:

    *Honda Accord
    *streetbike was a honda
*shootouts said it was the best 450MX bike
*already had a line of credit with honda
*the name HONDA kindof speaks for itself

Would I do it all over again knowing what I know today (I wasn't fully up on everything dirt bike related when I purchased 5-6mo ago)??? Maybe. A KTM is the only thing that could compete in my mind - with my present understanding of events. I might get a more Harescramble friendly KTM...they have one that's very similar to a 450R..but it has an electronic speedo, electric start. 6 speed wide ratio gearbox, etc...still no headlight and all that stuff...
sorry ya'll, i've got back to the darkside...

My first Honda was 30 years ago. Been riding Honda's ever since. Haven't had one fail me yet, no need to change brands now. Besides we have a great local dealer. They bring bikes from the shop to ride on our property ...... we then get to try out their bikes. 8)

Because in 05' they made the best 450. Not sure about 06' with the changes Yami made though. Unfortunately, for Yamaha, I'd NEVER own one. So Honda it is. ;)

ya, my first bike was a Yamaha, MX175. it was fun, I was young. Then my next bike was an 86' Husqvarna 500CR. FAST AND DANGEROUS!!!! Then I give my latest bike (crf450r) ALOT of thought, and determined that everything that Honda makes is top quality, (cars, small engines, lawn equip, etc.) so it was a no brainer. plus the fact that Honda had the best motocrosser for past few years and that my best friend has one.

I rode a yz 250 before I purchased my honda. The YZ is a great handling bike and great power. But the suspension is the worst for trail riding. I rode a buddies crf and couldn't believe how plush it was. It makes a huge difference on a 100 mile enduro and so far I just love the bike. Good power, Good handling, Super lite, and great suspension.

my first bike was a 1997 xr100r i got it in let me think... 2001 or 2002 and had it till the start of this year my da or i dont no much about engines we only got it serviced once all we did was change the oil it went and went. it eventually spat the dummy i outgrew it and just kept going flat out everywhere! it seized up and wasnt worth fixing for the amount of maintinence and the way i rode it it held up extremely well! i now have up graded to a crf230f 04 and am very happy with it.

For me, I would never even consider any other Jap bike......it had to be HONDA. My first one in '67 was a Honda, and all since then....why change now, they have a proven record of being nearly bullet proof. My only debate was whether to stay with the CR250R or go to a CRF450-R or X....I settled on the 450X.
