I ride both, but still prefer the dirt. If I wreck, at least it's my own fault.
I'm getting the wife used to the street. Bought her a 250 Rebel to learn. I'm on a '82 GS650 (42k miles), but looking at the Suzuki M50 by first part of next year :)

Nothing but dirt me please. After all the times that I have almost hit a street rider that I didn't see, I know that I don't want to be that guy.

I used to ride road. Rode from Houston to Washington DC and back for one. It was great. Now, though, I only ride dirt. I actually have no desire to ride road with the drivers that are out there now. Red light running is in epidemic status. Swift lane changes without regard for who's next to you are rampant. That all spells trouble for road riders. The back country highways aren't that bad, but you have to get out of and back into town. No thanks!

Well since this thread has been revived I'll chime in:

For years it's been dirt, dirt, dirt. The wife (now EX) had several dirt bikes and a road bike. Last year i finally gave in and got a 2005 Honda VTX 1300C. All I can say is it just isn't me. Sure it's pretty but the V-Twin crowd seems to be all about show and chrome.

I think next year I'll put it up for sale and get a Sport Touring bike. My buddy has a BMW GT1200 and i like the riding position much better.

I will take the dirt over the street any day!

I ride an Suzuki SV650 and an F4i on the street. Will be selling my F4i shortly, since I just bought a 450X and a 230f. My garage is too full.

    Mike, (Myk 450)
Your story sound like mine with the exception of mine was some drunk kids going 35-40ish in a pick-up truck and a$$holed me from behind  while I was at a dead stop with my blinker on waiting to turn into my driveway. I still have a street bike (97 Harley Sportster) but it see's very minimal in town driving. I live in a retirement town of about 35,000 with a lot of older people. Kids and white hairs scare me!
I started on dirt, spent a majority of my time on the dirt and THAT is where I am most comfortable.

I have had many on and off road bikes always end up selling my street bike after a close call. Have had and always will have an offroad bike.

Anything on two wheels for us. We ride a Honda Goldwing all over the country, I have a Honda RC51 for street power and we ride dirt bikes and ATV's off road. We even have a pair of Yamaha Zuma scooters just for fun! The hardest part is deciding what to ride on any given weekend!

I ride a honda cb750 and cbr1000rr on the street and have my crf450r that's street legal. I ride both and my 1000rr is pretty much a track only bike anymore.
