Well, dumping the headlight and other, dare I say, unnecessry crap: smog, overflow reservoir, 16' of associated tubing, rear taillight .....saves some weight. Granted not a whole lot but the bike is what 11 pounds heavier than the R. So there isn't that much difference. Having said that, any reduction in weight will beneifit. Afterall, isn't that what we are looking for buying Ti or aluminum this and that? The narrower seat and tank are a matter of personnal preference. The bottom line is when I come home from work at the end of the day and my son says "Hey Old Dude, wanna go ridin'." I don't have to tell him "Sorry Sport, it's June, you'll have to wait about four months before we can go riding together." Some guys/ladies may have a use for a headlight and a tailight. Me? when it gets dark I'm gonna be back at camp talking about what a great time we had. And as far as slapping a headlight on juniors ride....not gonna happen. I personnaly would never consider puting a larger tank on an R. But that is just my own preference. We all have our ideas, we all want our bikes to be a reflection of our personality so.....
I admit that the 250X is not the screaming machine the R is. But, based on what I am hearing from others, there is a group out here who want it both ways.
Is it feasible, practical, whimsical, What? You be the judge. Call it a poser R if you want. I prefer to think of it as my CRF250RX (as in presciption for fun. Catchy eh?) Thanks for responding
