Thanks for the info.
I think the reason that most people are not interested in trans gearing changes is that there is alot involved in changing it.
Most people, including myself tend to lean more towards changing sprocket sizes to find the best suited gearing for their needs. Probably because its fast, easy to do and cheap. The problem that I have found is that this more of a bandaid fix.
Running 13/54 gearing on my R allows me to rip through tight single track and tackle very technical sections but once the trail opens up, I am ripping through the gears and before i know it im in 5th and topped out and wanting alot more!
So I changed to 13/52 and was still not impressed. The really technical stuff was a little harder to navigate due to the increased crawling speed but top end speed was still not as fast as i would like. So I went back to 13/54.
Now this is where a lot of people would say to sell the "R" get an "X". There are 2 problems with that statement. 1, I dont want an X for numerous reasons, and if I did, I would have bought one. 2, for most people that are worried about money, this is a massive waste. I would never get all my money back that is into my R and then would still have to purchase an X.
So my next logical step is to keep the 13/54 gearing and change the tranny gearing to get the outcome that I am looking for.
Your kits are relatively inexpensive and it makes me wonder why there is not much of a demand. It cant be the price since most people spend way more than that on pipes, pistons and cams!
Using the gearing calculator I am convinced that your kit is what I need to get my bike to perform the way that i want. I hope to get one at the end of the season and install it over the winter.
Sorry for rambling lol
