    Kill switch issue

    by A Mac » Mon Apr 11, 2016 2:44 pm

I have recently purchased a 2009 CRF230. When turning off the bike the kill switch does not work and I need to use the key. However, this is not always convenient or available in an emergency. The prior owner said it never worked. The wiring all appears to be intact and not tapered with. The only modification was they changed the handle bars.

You will need to measure the resistance across the switch to ensure it is working properly. Other than that it will be a wiring issue or it is not providing an earth to kill the trigger pulse for the ignition.

It starts,it runs,it gets to where all CRFs can get to without the valve or valve plate dramas

I just purchased an '08 with the same setup. Previous owners upgraded to Tusk handlebars. Upon purchasing, they told me the high beam switch on the Baja Design street legal kit was not working...nor was the kill switch.

I hope to get to the bottom of this. If you've learned anything please let me know! I'll do the same.
